It is a Time For Peace, A Time For Love, A Time For War To Cease
— Eddy ‘The Chief’ Clearwater, West Side Strut on Alligator Records

Blues is the quintessential American music. Through the Blues you can express pain and sorrow, but you can also express love and happiness. It is a music that tells a story.

Spring has been a time of sadness in losing my mentor
and best friend to the Blues world, BB King.

REMEMBERING BB King

“BB was so amazed when he saw me get up on stage and play with Muddy Waters. BB came up on stage to play with us and he gazed at me and then asked me..... how do you play that left handed and upside down — That evening was one of the greatest moments of my life playing with my two mentors and guitar heroes. They both told me, just keep on practicing and remember to always be humble and give your all to the audience. I have carried that philosophy with me all of my life and I thank them from the bottom of my heart,”

Spring has been a time of
love and happiness too.

“I am so humbled and honored to be the recipient of so many awards and recognitions. A few I received were the Skokie Fine Arts Commission, Arts Excellence Award. So many of my neighbors and friends, even my drummer, Stephen Bass came out to see me get this wonderful award. Andrea Siegel the director asked me why I like Skokie. I said for 20 years I have made this my home with Renee. It is peaceful, joyful, beautiful and it has wonderful people of all backgrounds and races. It is a First Class City that I love to come home from after traveling around the world.

Dinahlynn Biggs

Thank you, Dinahlynn Biggs, Latrice Long & Tommy Williams from WLTH and SMOKIN99 Radio in Gary, Indiana. Renee, Lynn and I took a ride to Gary from our home. On the ride down I remembered so many good times performing at the F & J Club on Broadway. I played there with Muddy, Magic Slim, Howlin’ Wolf, John Lee Hooker. It was a great club only an hour from Chicago. All of the steel workers would come and have a good time.

Between his slashing left-handed guitar work, his room-filling vocals, his self-defined "rock-a-blues" style (a forceful mix of blues, rock, rockabilly, country and gospel), his boundless energy and even his signature Indian headdress, Clearwater is among the very finest practitioners of the West Side blues working today.
